Final drilling at the intake of the Kali Gandaki Gorge Hydropower Project has begun. The plan is to drill three additional holes along the right bank of the river to obtain the bed rock profile. Engineers and geologists will determine the geo-physical structure of the ground material before finalizing the dam design. The present drilling will assist in determining the height of the dam and its construction techniques. Delegations from HSL were at the site to get a first hand update on the activities. A charter helicopter was used for the purpose.
